CoolPad, like a lot of other Chinese Smartphone manufacturing companies, entered the Indian subcontinent after taking the Chinese market by storm and making its presence felt all across the globe. The company was founded in 1993 as a subsidiary of another company but soon detach it to form an individual unit.
CoolPad Note 3 Plus Review
The Note 3 Plus is the latest offering from the CoolPad organization after the CoolPad Note 3 and CoolPad Note 3 Lite, but to be fair to a lot of people, there is not much difference between the Note 3 Plus and the predecessors except the fact the screen is Full HD this time around. We present to you over complete review about this gadget to ease your questions out.
Design and Build
The Note 3 plus is very stylishly designed. The phone has a glass front whilst having a high-quality plastic covering at the back. The mobile phone also has a metal rim pipe going around the phone on the side. The phone has a slippery feel to it and will slide a lot often in your hands. In a time where phones and devices are getting mightily thin, the Note 3 Plus weighs a lofty 168gm and is 9.3mm thick.
A unique feature added to the CoolPad Note 3 series is the presence of the fingerprint sensor under the back camera. Giving the credit where it is due, the sensor worked flawlessly for me whenever I put my fingers across it. It was quick to response to my gestures. Besides, the usual suspects of a 3.5mm audio jack on the top and volume keys and power button on the side are present. Also, there is a micro USB 2.0 slot at the bottom.
Display
The Note 3 Plus is fitted with a 5.5 inch Full HD screen which makes it different from its predecessors. The screen is an IPS display and can provide up to a 178-degree viewing angle to the users. The screen has a maximum resolution of 1080p and is deemed to be a scratch resistant display. You will be astonished by the details of the screen although I would have like the three capacitive buttons on the front side to be backlit. But well, you cannot have everything.
Software & UI
The Note 3 Plus comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop with a layer of the Supercool 6.0 UI from CoolPad itself. CoolPad has announced that they will bring Marshmallow update to the Note 3 Plus but no time limit has been yet decided when it will arrive. The smartphone company has chosen to come up with its own customizations on the UI which most people won’t like but there are options to customize the phone as you want it to be.
Hardware
The Note 3 plus features the exact same hardware as it features except the screen. The phone is fitted with a MediaTek MT6753 CPU and the combination with the ARM Mali – T720 GPU. The phone struggles a lot with 1080p resolution which is not a good sign for the smartphone. You won’t have much problem with multi-tasking because of the presence of the 3GB RAM and the phone works very well under normal usage
Camera
The smartphone includes a 13MP back shooter with autofocus and also has a very good 5MP front camera. The camera works excellent in conditions where there is enough light to capture images but pictures can be a little distorted in low-lit places. The camera speed is quite good with absolute no lag while recording videos or clicking pictures.
Performance
Most of the users will be overly satisfied with the performance of Note 3 Plus. The does seem to lag a bit though due to the 1080p resolution of the screen but other than that, even the most extensive gaming apps or multi-tasking are not even a problem to the smartphone.
Storage, Connectivity, and Battery
The Note 3 Plus includes a 16GB internal memory which can be expanded to 64GB with the help of microSD card. The phone also includes all the latest connectivity options such as a Dual-Sim slot working on all LTE bands, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Also, the phone includes a 3000mAh battery which can easily make sure you pass your whole day without having to charge again.
The Bottom Line
The CoolPad Note 3 Plus is priced nicely at Rs. 8999. The features are a lot more than what you could have imagined and the bonus of fingerprint sensor and a powerful camera is a joy to watch. The only disappointment about the phone is the slight lag which occurs to the resolution of the phone. Overall, it is a very decent buy at the price range and would satisfy most potential buyers.
